U14 NL Boys Off To A Winning Start

Ready for the first tip-offReady for the first tip-off of the season

Report by team manager, Melanie Jones.

Our first National league game of the season saw us heading to Harrow. After many of us parents looped around in circuits of the high school in search of the entrance, we all arrived and the boys got changed in eager anticipation of the match.

The squad was made up of: Joe, Ben, Temi, Jack, Kai, Sean, Yahya, Julian and Thomas.

The Harrow Falcons scored first, but Temi was off to a flying start equalising immediately and putting pressure on the Falcons in defence. A closely fought Q1 finished 15-17 to Blackhawks.

We settled into the game in Q2, working well as a team and increasing our lead. Sean has a collision with the opposition resulting in a time out and an impressive bruise. Luckily, both boys were ok and Sean continued to keep popping in his baskets. Q2 ended 21-36 to us.

The 3rd Q saw all the boys step up their game, we had a number of free throws that we converted with coolness under pressure (Ben had to step up for one after a time out and scored). Another strong quarter saw the Blackhawks extend their lead to 26-48.

We continued to play well in the final quarter and went on to win the match 35-62. Well done to all the boys, but a special mention to Thomas, Yahya, Kai, Temi, and Ben for playing so well in their first NL match. I hope you all had fun!

You will be pleased to hear this is my only match report... over to the boys from now on!
